Safety

Balconies including Rooftop Areas
  • If you have Children in the apartment, we strongly recommend that when they are on the balcony, they have Adult Supervision. It is also suggested that chairs and loungers be kept away from the balcony handrail to prevent the possibility of them being used to stand on. This also applies to roof top areas.
Disabilities
  • Please advise management if you have any disability or medical condition, which you consider we should be aware of. This is especially important should there be an evacuation emergency.
Fire Alarm
  • Please familiarise yourself with Evacuation Notice on the back of your entry door. In the event of a FIRE ALARM – please leave the building immediately by way of the stairs – DO NOT USE THE LIFT! Stairs lead to the rear of the building. Please assemble on the footpath on First Avenue – at rear of the building. Do not return to the building until after the Queensland Fire Service declares the building safe.
Kitchen Smoke
  • Should you burn toast or anything on the stove, please advise Management IMMEDIATELY. It is important to close the bedroom doors before opening the balcony door and windows so as to delay the smoke reaching detectors in these areas. The ceiling fan will assist in dispersing the smoke. The Fire Service may levy a callout fee – payable by guest – with your cooperation we may be able to prevent activating the alarms.
Lifts
  • Please ensure the lift is not overloaded by observing limitations advised by the manufacturers. Any tampering with the closed door or any action which results in the lift stopping will result in the person/apartment being charged a “call out fee”. Should you be caught in the lift, please use the intercom provided and a technician will respond to your call. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult!
Smoke Detectors
  • LED’s in the Smoke Detectors that are in the bedrooms are meant to flash to show they are operating correctly. When they have been activated they are on all the time – “but we do not want that to happen”. Do not detach detector as this activates an alarm on the Fire Board – refer Safety – Kitchen Smoke.
